Leonid Shakun

Leonid Shakun doesn’t have any special education connected with his handicraft. Being a little boy he liked small wooden pistols and his uncle taught him how to work with wood and to understand its special features and properties. For some years he worked in joiner's shops dealing with manufacturing of doors and curtain rods and then in Minskrestavratsia. Leonid participated in restoration of Mir and Nesvizh Castles, Yanka Kupala National Academic Theater, National Opera and Ballet Theater during which he learned special wood-making techniques. The only operation with wood that doesn’t bring any pleasure to the craftsman is grinding because it doesn’t result into creation of any beautiful or useful item. Leonid likes to create something new and gather interesting things from objects that seem useless and unnecessary at first sight.

The craftsman is very much fond of puzzling visitors of his workshop with some brain-twisters that he has there.
